The data available here correspond to maps of the tidal forces in the local Universe extracted from the 2MASS galaxy survey using the method described in the companion paper. The data are available as HEALPix maps with resolution parameter Nside=64, and are based on a reconstructed density field computed using a Gaussian smoothing kernel of standard deviation 1o. The maps contain the mean and covariance of the components of the 2D tidal tensor and its eigenvalues, as described in the paper. These quantities were computed from a suite of 1000 constrained lognormal realizations that fully account for mask-related effects. Please contact the authors if you would like to have access to this suite of realizations. The maps can be found in binary FITS format here, and the contents of the file are detailed in the README file.
These data are made publicly available with the only requirement that you cite the companion paper, Alonso, Hadzhyiska and Strauss 2015, in any published work that makes use of them.
